I'm Katie Blue, and I'm so glad you're here.
Hello!
I launched Blue Admission in 2015 with the hope that I could leverage my experience in university admission, specifically highly-selective university admission, to help students and families feeling overwhelmed with the college application process.
Over the last ten years, Blue Admission has thrived, and I haven’t spent a single penny on advertising. Based solely on word-of-mouth recommendations from the students and families I have been fortunate enough to work with, I left my “day job” in 2024 to pursue Blue Admission full time.

More About Katie Blue
Katie grew up in the Midwest (Southwest Missouri, specifically—shout out to Nixa, MO!) and attended the University of Missouri - Columbia, where she majored in English with an emphasis in Linguistics and earned a minor in Business.

Katie’s professional career began early—filling nail holes and sweeping up construction debris in the houses her mother designed, her father built, and her family often lived in. Both first-generation college graduates, Katie's parents used their education to forge their own path as small business owners. It was hard, unpredictable, and inspiring. These early experiences taught the value of working hard to create something beautiful.

Professionally, Katie has worked in sales, advertising, university admission, international education, and edtech.
​
Her first admissions job at Missouri University of Science and Technology was an unexpected entry into what would become a lifelong career.

After relocating her family to Houston, Texas, Katie served as the Assistant Director of Admission at Rice University before joining The Village School, where she worked to build a comprehensive college planning and application support program for a newly established private high school.

Katie brings over 16 years of experience in university admissions, student advising, mentoring, essay writing, and coaching to the guidance and support she offers. Katie's students have earned admission to all 20 of the U.S. News & World Report top 20 National Universities and countless other admission placements at best-fit U.S. and global university programs.
